United Arab Shipping Co. this week issued two trade notices enhancing its coverage on trades to and from India.
The Middle East-based carrier set up a cooperation arrangement with CMA CGM to buy slots on the French carrier’s Indamex service between the Indian subcontinent and the U.S. East Coast.
The slot-charter deal, reportedly for 400 twenty-foot-equivalent units per week, will take effect with the arrival of the Maipo, voyage 089W, at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (Nhava Sheva) on March 3.
The Indamex is a vessel-sharing agreement between CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, OOCL and NYK Line, deploying a fleet of eight vessels.
The fixed-day, weekly service has the following port rotation: Nhava Sheva and Mundra, India; Damietta, Egypt; New York, Norfolk, Savannah and Charleston, U.S.; Port Said, Egypt; Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Port Qasim, Pakistan; and back to Nhava Sheva.
The estimated transit times from JNPT on the westbound rotation are: 22 days to New York, 24 days to Norfolk, 26 days to Savannah and 27 days to Charleston, according to the advisory.
In addition, UASC replaced its MINA service linking the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent, the Mediterranean and the U.S. East Coast with a new weekly loop, branded the Indian Subcontinent-Mediterranean Express Service, or IMEX, effective at the end of last month.
The IMEX rotation is as follows: Khor Fakkan, Oman; Jebel Ali, United Arab Emirates; Port Qasim, Pakistan; Mundra and Nhava Sheva, India; Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Port Said East, Egypt; La Spezia and Genoa, Italy; Fos-sur-Mer, France; Barcelona and Valencia, Spain; Tangier, Morocco; Genoa; Malta; Port Said West; Jeddah and returning to Khor Fakkan.
“By introducing new and upgrading existing services, UASC can provide its customers with superior service reliability, competitive transit times and improved connections, allowing its customers to avail of new opportunities globally,” the container line said
